That smashed condenser will soon cause a failure.
Thanks guys. The smashed condenser is not a problem, I have new ones in my parts bin. My main concern is the missing/wrong parts, the motor starts and runs well as is. I am afraid to take it off not knowing what is involved.
81 was a DOHC not a SOHC
I know it is not a SOHC, the bolt looks very similar to what's on my motor and I am just wondering if the PO tinkered and modded it since he used the wrong headlight ears(CB500) with modded air forks. I am just going by the history/nature of his modding and guess that somehow the points/advancer was modded with something else.
The motor runs and sounds like my other 71 K1. I have ordered all the correct parts to swap out but I would like to learn a little more before I start taking off more parts from a motor that runs fairly well.
It looks like someone crashed on that side of the engine, broke the big nut that fits on the end of the crankshaft stud, and replaced it all with a long bolt. It will likely leak oil from the inner crank journal (under 60 PSI pressure) unless something was done on that long bolt to add a seal of some kind in the center of the crank journal?
If it is just a simple long bolt surely the motor wouldn't run, right? There is no oil leak
