First time attempting to mount tires.. not successfully
« on: March 23, 2020, 01:50:23 PM »
With the shutdown in effect in PA I thought I didn't have the luxury of taking my wheels to a shop to have tires mounted. I borrowed a buddy's set of tire irons and watched a few YouTube videos. Seems simple! After an hour of wrestling with it I resigned to calling garages just in the off chance one if them would do it. I eventually found a nearby powersports place who agreed but it had to be "contactless." So I had to leave my tires outside and pay by credit card over the phone, then pick them up when they left them outside the building. It was very foreign.

I learned a valuable lesson.. getting tires off a rim is definitely easier than getting them on! Anyone else learn this lesson? Maybe I'm just not as mechanically inclined as I thought I was.

Yeah I figured it wasn't worth chewing up the rim trying to do it myself.. if I could even do it. Feels like you need 5 hands! Guess that's why the machine was invented that does it for you
