Howdy y'all, glad to join the group!! Just picked up a 1975 cb550. Hopefully going to cafe/ brat style. So once I'm able to post on classifieds and post pictures I'll keep you all updated. I look forward to some guidance and help and meeting new friends and all that good cheesy #$%*

also, if you have the rear grab bar. I also have a 1975 cb550 that I found sitting in a woodshop wince the 80s. It's my first 550 and my largest bike currently, I think it's a great balance between the twins and the 750.

One bags too is damaged, I have the rear sissy bar grab bar. And I have the vetter fairing with the brackets I'll be posting on the classifieds when I'm allowed too

I live out in the desert beyond the Tucson mountains on the far NW side of TUCSON, about parallel with the Ina Road exit which is one of the Marana exits.

Moved back to Tucson after having been away from AZ for around 6.5 years. Really enjoying being back and am healthier for it...dropped about 50 pounds since October. It is a better place for me to live.
Lived in AZ from 05-13.

Not a runner. Waiting for a carb kit. I have compression and I gotta wait for spark. And I definitely will post in the project shop. And I'm about to start taking everything off I'm just figuring out my electronics tray and battery location

Fair warning: dont use the cheap china crap brass parts from the kits, you will have trouble tuning.

Gaskets can be of, but just clean and reuse existing brass if known to be Keihin

Oh great pointers!!! Definitely will have to look into that. I'm ordering most of my stuff off 4to1 the brass still looks in good shape. And I'm not making her super pretty, I just want her to be reliable for daily use and state drives

The stock Honda carb rebuild kits don't come with brass and other than the bowl gasket, just an o-ring other than a shaped gasket like some of the aftermarket gasket. The shaped gasket is much easier to deal with.

Doesn't Jets-R-us sell Keihlin?
Don't think 4-into-1 sells Keihlin brass.
But, like Stev-O said, unlikely you need it unless someone drilled the main jet out. Let's hope that is not the case.

I don't think the carbs got much love over it's 45 years of existence. But will I need a jet kit with going to pods? Or will the stock have enough play

Likely you will need to change idle/pilot jets and maybe main jets...only way to really tune effectively without Dino or an air-fuel meter / gas analyzer is by doing plug chops. I am sticking with stock air box and unless you intend to have a modified motor you are far better off staying with the air box. Seriously...it is so so much easier...

My stock box is not in great shape. For now I'm making sure the motor runs, I have compression, and need to pick up a battery for the electronics. But I'm more then likely going to drop a hot can in
