1979 CB750 Spoked Rims to Comstar Rims (please help)
« on: July 26, 2019, 09:53:51 PM »
Hello everyone, in the process of buying new rims and tires for my build and am wondering if I can directly swap out the spoked rims I originally had on the bike for Comstar rims from the same year or an 80 or 81. Would any modifications need to be made to accommodate or would it be a direct bolt-on? Looking for a cheaper direct bolt-on option then brand new spoked rims. thanks.

The back wheel should be a direct swap, just make sure you get a drum brake rear. For the front so some research on the fork style. I think that the F models used a different fork lower style than the K/C models did. The wheels might be compatible anyway, but the probability is higher if you are swapping a single disk K/C wheel onto your single disk bike.

These swaps are easier to do if you swap the entire front end - then there are no wheel/brake/fender issues.

Connor, I'm in the same boat as you but with an 81 CB750K looking to go from Spoked to Comstars (for easier cleaning, tubeless tires, and I personally prefer the look of the comstars vs spoke). Did you ever get this to work? Your input would be of great value to me!
