UK here, no real news on when we'll be racing again but I suspect it will not be this year.
I'm only old on the outside.

AHRMA in the US has postponed or cancelled racing through April, but nothing reported yet for May. There is a round in May in Kansas and another in June in New Jersey. NJ is a HOT SPOT right now along with New York so I am guessing that we won't be racing again until late July.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

i didnt even got around to getting my racing license... had my compulsory medical check set for late february but that got cancelled,
if and when season picks up again, just getting the license will be a challenge. first race becoming a bit of a mirage these days though
On top, im in lockdown some 60 miles away from home / bikes, that sucks quite a bit...
Luckily i am at my girlfriend's place, so other needs well taken care of :)

There is open discussion on the VRRA forum. Deposits to tracks have been made and contract legalities are being looked at by the executive. There may be a survey sent out for members to conservatively answer regarding their 2020 plans, including financial constraints. If races are allowed to happen will entries be down? The club doesn't need any more financial problems.

Personally the machine shop making my new mainshaft is closed. For how long is unknown, where my piece is on a waiting list after it re-open is unknown!  Other work on the bike will be complete over the next few weeks

Not to be pessimistic, but at best, I fear we may have only one race date in September.

Stay well everyone.

indeed, the economic outlook will be key. the big corporation i work for is deploying strict expense containment for the next six months....
for many of us, self employed or with small/medium business, racing will be a a luxury this year, maybe even next...
In order to better run the show, my federation wanted racers to pay the full inscription fee for the 5 races, I almost got around to paying it before the s^&t hit the fan.
if turn out at races dwindles by 30-50% it will be very difficult to even run them.

I agree this is key. Certainly within our own club the average age is "up there" where the risk is higher! Many are saying they won't race this year.

Here races are cancelled untill June ( but I kinda expect it will be after summer before things/if things return to normal) .. Most organizations also issued mails that they aree waiting untill the last minute before issuing they cancel events anyway, which I can understand..but more cancelationn will follow.

I paid my considerable fees in advance, luckily I had the choice to get them refunded or leave the money with the respective organization, and race after June.

I choose for the first one for all races untill july, since between a broken foot, and this Covid thing, I do not expect to be race ready anyway before summer. And I would like to make some km's on a motorcycle before racing again.
For july and after I leave the money, maybe we race, maybe not ( I think that is likely ), but then it is a downpayment for the future, and helps a little with the organizations financial health. I fear the economic consequences after this is all said and done, not only for them, but for all of us ( I am also an independent business owner) So we have to consider economic snowball effects as well...

Yesterday night my neighbour ( 42, woman, healthy ) suddenly past away due to Covid within 3 days...so even though this is considered an extremity, it happened....I say, please protect yourself and others.... racing is all fun, and really not essential right now.

Be safe all !!
