Rocker Arm Stamps
« on: March 30, 2020, 08:21:19 AM »
Hey all, working away during quarantine. I was less meticulous with my process cataloguing parts in the head during disassembly. Wanting to make sure I didn’t mix up any of the rockers. Does anyone understand the stamping? Not readily finding a key to the stamping on this forum or google. Below is what I have stamped. I also attached a photo (of a diagram of the stamping) which might be easier to look at.

4 Intake: A17
4 Exhaust: A16
3 Intake: B90
3 Exhaust: B90
2 Intake: A17
2 Exhaust: A16
1 Intake: B91
1 Exhaust: B91

The A and B might mean something if all the A are one "hand" and all the B the other "hand" but i suspect the numbers are just mold numbers

Ah ok, mold numbers makes sense. Would explain why I’m not finding documentation on the stamping.

Noticed some rockers aren’t interchangeable. Do you know how many types there are? What the types are? Aka intake, exhaust? Left, right? Just looking for any confirmation I’ve got them back in correctly.

Also do the cam tower pucks have an orientation? It seems like they have more of a bowl shape on one side.

Think I found my answer on the rocker arms. Attached is a picture of the Partzilla parts diagram, 2 = A and 3 = B. Lines up with how I have them set up.

The parts book only shows 2 types of rocker and i think it calls them A and B but my books are not here so cant be sure. As to the pucks, never really thought about it just fitted them!

If you are re-using the old rubber pucks, they domed downward toward the engine as they aged. Put some non-hardening sealant around their edges on reassembly, like the Permatex #2 (or whatever type your stores have there?).

Thanks Hondaman! The pucks are brand new from Honda. Was planning on using Threebond 1184 on them.
