cb550k0 standard 4/4 exhaust #3 fitment issues
« on: March 31, 2020, 07:11:36 PM »
Anyone have a #3 pipe that just won't fit quite right? Seems like #3 runs too close to the frame, with about
1/8" clearance from the frame downtube. Twisting it will make the balance tube alignment to be off.
Stock honda 4/4 system...Has anyone else ever seen this before? Thinking of double gaskets to bring pipe
forward slightly. Thoughts/suggestions any 550 owners? Pipes are nos, bought a long time ago (2006)
iirc...so no warranty :(

Cant remember which pipe but one of the lh side(as sat on bike) fits the oposite side of kickstand to what you think
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

That would be #2. The #3 pipe is on the RH side of the bike.

Thanks for the leads. They went together pretty easy, and the #3 got an extra gasket to pull it slightly forward.
It clears the frame better and the balance tubes line up better, with the header nuts tightened only enough to seal
and no more. Thanks again for the link.
