Clutch hub nut tool for CB750
« on: April 07, 2020, 08:05:27 AM »
Can anyone confirm... I think the large end of this tool would work for CB750 clutch hub nut? Inside diameter 24mm.

This might not be the best quality, longest lasting tool in the world, but I'll probably use it once or twice.

This one is $9.  Shipped.

:)

Yes, I'm a cheap a**.  But if the tool is good enough, I don't see paying more than necessary, and $9 is well worth my time not to try to make my own.  I'll happily pay $9 to try it out.

Even if it's really poor, it's likely better than bashing on the nut with a screwdriver and hammer, and guessing whether the torque is right.

Here's my own clutch nut wrench. I'm measuring 24mm inside, 28mm outside, so the teeth are slimmer on my tool/fatter on the amazon tool. Is that gonna be an issue? I don't know.

I'm about to open up my clutch. I haven't used this wrench for 12? yrs and I only found it yesterday, so it was handy today.

FWIW this isn't even the cheapest spanner tool... mainly I'm just checking that the 24mm I.D. is correct for the CB750 clutch hub nut.  I can only get over to the workshop about once a week, and I don't want to wait that long before I go ahead and get a spanner tool on the way.

Thanx for the confirmation - 24mm ID.

Motion Pro 08-0015 is 24mm I.D. and is supposed to be correct for "pre-78 CB" models... I think that also tells me "yes".

I use this tool attached on my torque wrench

And the CB750 shop manual in paper form despite I have a copy in my computer. releaxing to read in front of the TV with clean fingers not making it dirty, same treatment as Hondaman's book. ;)

Well crap... that's 16mm?  Confidence gone.

OK... I gotta go over and measure this nut.

16mm
Probably the thread size

There are threads within this forum that describe a homemade clutch nut tool using a donor socket and a grinder. Just gotta find it.
