Hard to roll backwards
« on: April 03, 2020, 02:20:28 pm »
So I have not moved my 77 750F Super Sport all winter. Started it up a few times. Now when I try to push it backwards its very hard to do. Like the brake is stuck. Any ideas why?

Put it on the c stand , see which wheel drags . I usually put a block of wood with a rag against calibre and whack it. See if th st helps.

I have always had a hard time putting the bike on the center stand. Any tricks to it?

Eat more porrige

this is a common misconception, it's actually spinach that gives the big forearms necessary.

push down on the stand as you lift the bike up more than trying to roll it backwards onto the stand, and eat more porridge with spinach.

Another suggestion for centerstand success is hard soled shoes (boots) so you can really put some pressure on the centerstand foot lever.

A trick I used with my β€˜75 GL1000: leave a short piece of scrap 2x4” lumber on the floor (12” is long enough). Roll the rear tire up on it before using the centre stand. Put the tire at the rear of the scrap, so it rolls off it as you push down the centre stand (so it’s free when your done). Kick it out of the way, for next time.

What he said last post..sometimes a 1x4 will do.   ::)
Far worse if bike is lowered.. it can take 3 men and a donkey to get it up if it is lowered a lot.. :o   :o

A simple kick to the side of the caliper works fine also. And then it goes on the centre stand more easy too, with the brake unstuck.

But if his bike can't roll backwards, it makes putting it up on the center stand that much more difficult...
