Is gasket sealer required on cylinder block ?
« on: April 06, 2020, 06:56:10 PM »
Just got my cb550 head and cylinder block back from the machine shop. It appears the guy that had the bike before me went a little crazy with the dermel !!

The bottom surface of cylinder block has some small grinding marks from the dermel, the machine shop recommend for me to put a small amount of gasket sealer on the surface when reassembling

Looking for advice, would you recommend sealer or do you think a new gasket will be enough to stop oil leaking because of bad surface

No sealer. Gaskets go on dry. The dermel marks are on the opposite side as the oil anyway.
