yeah those tyres wernt bad,i think on greasy wet clay knobbies would surely be better, but on gravel roads and clean dry dirt this thing will spin any tyre on it?im using these as its used on the hi way to get to these areas not trailered,im more than happy with them all round i think, the other guys are using DOT knobbies but i think wear down too fast on the hi way?plus i think a little dodgy if its slippery tarmac?we went through some pretty hairy decents and accents and they held on fair n square,id sooner have the gearing lower though off road,i managed but i love a crawl low gear, yeah the tt got dropped here after this model because of compliance and the heavier xt took its place on the showroom, theyd gotten away with the IT series and the TT for too long as they were just barely road legal, the dealers wouldnt be able to sell any if they wernt road legal so the yz motocross pure off roaders still sold i guess for that market?the xt is a great bike but no where near a tt,different suspension etc, steel tank, paper airfilter the tt is wetted foam, stuff like that.,this tenere is the TTs reincarnation?17 inch rear wheel mine is 18,660cc,same basic engine but now water cooled aswell, big fat steel tank, screen, gone is the quick release rear wheel etc,the TT out dragged it on the hi way rolling start from about 20 miles per hour, just too heavy, lost the plot in favour of having bikes they could sell, not a lot of TTs around?let alone on the road?

Dave,I wondered if there's more of these Big thumper dirt or Adventure type bikes in Australia compared to street bikes, all around ? I guess more street only bikes in big cities but I was curious about the entire country,if you know ?

Do you think adventure bikes make-up the majority of bikes in AUSstralia or street bikes ?

thought id check the nuts are tight on the crank and balance shaft,a few forums recommend to check em every coupla years,if they loosen up the keys ways will flog out etc causing mayhem!mine are good,i found the seal face on a little check valve has been damaged at some time?might lose a little oil pressure here? ill replace it.

If the Yammy is like the Honda XR/XL bikes, there isn't much oil pressure to begin with?

Hi Dave. I have ridden it around my property a few times and seem to be working fine. Be a great first bike for a younger person to learn the basics . Not very exciting as far as performance. Thanks for asking and keep enjoying your new toy !   Eric

yeah ive ridden an xr 200 and pretty lame Eric, like you say a great learners bike, ive ridden xt250 and same deal, pretty lame but having said that theyll both take abuse forever reliably with little service and will go anywhere and all in all a bloody good bike for dirt fun and farm use,ive also ridden tt350 and that is a much better small four stroke bike!
got the clutch cover back on after work today and replaced that little check valve seal,i gotta make up a special funnel to fill the oil tank without removing the seat, only needs a bent spout or cut a section out to keep it level, also to drain the oil tank the plugs position is awkward to get any sort of funnel to stop oil going all over the back of the engine and swing arm,ill make up some sort of drink bottle cut up or something?on a curved stick?with a flexi hose attached to direct the oil?that you gotta hold using a mirror?while using one foot you push the catch pan under it?and the other has a big rag to catch any errant oil mess?its a bit of a #$%* tight spot but can be done clean i hope?ive done four oil changes on it now and im getting it sorted with less mess each time!

did about 250 kays on it last weekend, the tenere has the windsceen and headlights that dont turn with the bars?makes me dizzy its un natural?also has big steel tank and maybe 50 kilos heavier than the tt with its water cooling etc?that other bike is a current model suzy drz 400,he also has that honda 650 dominator,he spent 1300 bucks on the suzy rear suspension!it floats over any rough #$%*!wish mine had that good suspension, does this old bloke ok though,i can still power slide steer its sort of natural for these bikes?

He looks a bit sh1tty Dave, you didn't splash him did you? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

who was it that spoke of koalas once calling them piddling things?anyway no he was out of range,we had one at our old place with a pussed up eye,we called wildlife and they came and captured it,dont dare try and pat one, they can bite your hand of and go for the neck, theyve been known to kill large dogs and wont back down if you tangle with them, their bite is semi poisonous in that it infects almost instantly and the sticky saliva wont wash off untill it dries solid,#$%*en #$%*s of things!

I like 'em, used to see lots of them on Army exercises, most were pretty docile, but I have heard they can be aggressive. I remember still, when Doctor Hook were big they came out to Oz and were taken to a Koala sanctuary in QLD somewhere, and one of the band members was asked how he liked his day, and stoned off his face, he told a story about how he was chased, and attacked by a "Cola Bear"......... ;D

Ages ago we were at a rellies farm. He had his arm all bandaged up because a koala latched onto his wrist and wouldn't let go.
He reckons he was swinging his arm everywhere . The claws did some damage too.
He had it in cage before releasing it. Looked cuddly.
