who was it that spoke of koalas once calling them piddling things?anyway no he was out of range,we had one at our old place with a pussed up eye,we called wildlife and they came and captured it,dont dare try and pat one, they can bite your hand of and go for the neck, theyve been known to kill large dogs and wont back down if you tangle with them, their bite is semi poisonous in that it infects almost instantly and the sticky saliva wont wash off untill it dries solid,#$%*en #$%*s of things!
Ages ago we were at a rellies farm. He had his arm all bandaged up because a koala latched onto his wrist and wouldn't let go.

!
He reckons he was swinging his arm everywhere . The claws did some damage too.
He had it in cage before releasing it. Looked cuddly.

Meant to be left alone,in the wild.  ;)

I guess your "cola" bears are alot like our raccoons. They can be pretty mean and known to lure a dog into the water and drown them by getting on the dogs head and holding them under. But they sure look cute

the only thing i didnt do first time around was the steering bearings on this bike,i was too keen to ride it and they seemed ok,but in the back of my mind i knew id need to look at them?well with no load they felt real #$%*ty once torn down like this,Bear helped, hes a dirt bike dog!the bearing place has em in stock bout 55 bucks the pair, the factory grease was like some kind of black tar?for some reason the lower yammy ones have an awkward recess to get a bite on the cup?my old it250 was the same?i got em out, gonna be a wet weekend so steering bearings, new stickers and beer in the shed i think.

yeah the seller told me it was rebuilt at a yammy dealer 8 years ago but then hardly used,i sort off believe him as the cement used is neatly done and looks to be yamabond or similar, when i was looking for a bike i saw one the dick head said hes mate "done it all up"it had silicone oozing from every sealing surface like a 5 year old had applied it?i didnt even bother starting it.

well im a #$%* head?i bought new steering bearings from a bearing service, then i find out ya cant buy just the lower seal from yamaha its a whole kit?ya gotta destroy the old seal getting the bearing off,the bearing shop said itll have to be a special part from yamaha,so #$%* me inside out i had to buy an all balls kit just to get the seal!just as an aside all balls market cheap chinese bearings,i bought timken to avoid their #$%*,i used their seals only!oh well, its only money!got new tank stickers on and a couple elsewhere,im not big on too many stickers here n there, gotta be neat, this is such a great bike to ride on the pavement,it truely out handles the honda on the road and the honda is a no go on dirt roads!riding this bike its so tough!its instant power and its no #$%* bothers it attitude and its an old bike?no wonder they dont make em like this anymore?sure the new dirt bikes are better, but this one is special!!

well those new stickers lasted about 2 days before they bubbled up,you can bleed the bubbles out and smooth em over again but they come back damn it to hell!,gotta be the gas fumes coming through the yellowed plastic tank?im gonna peel em off and clean all the glue off and try another type of spray can glue, what can it hurt theyre wierd anyway,if they go bubbly again so be it,any ideas?

My thought is that once heated together the sticker will be more pliable and when it cools they both shrink together. Kind of like when you put a bearing into a tight fit hole. But it is only a guess.

possibly drain-out the gas so the tank heats up evenly with the sticker?

so i peeled em off,all the glue was on the stickers and left no residue or hardly any on the tank?i was gonna turpentine the glue off the stickers but thought better of that idea,i just sprayed the new glue over the existing and the tank aswell and let it dry 5 minutes, then re applied them,so far so good, while i was at it i thought id punch out a few circles from the sticker backing, looks like kevlar and stuck em around in an even manner!

well the stickers went #$%* again, this time im gonna strip all the glue off them and try again, anyway i decided to replace the slightly bent or warped disc, its got a ridge and is grooved somewhat, all they make these days is fancy pants designs that shed heat and debris better so we are told, this is the "flame series yz/tt" that gets hidden behind a cover anyway?,the 33 year old stock one works ok with good feel and if you want will lock on dirt/gravel but on the road its a little like the old honda ones, itll start braking well and if ya want more thats about it,there aint no more!,the ferodo organic pads mightnt help but they look new,i want sintered ones but couldnt get em locally, i tried all up n down our bike alley so online it has to be,i flattened the old pads on glass with wet n dry paper and ill have to use these untill i get sintered ones, this is an oddball bike getting simple #$%* for let me tell you!itll be interesting though to see how the same pads on the new disc work?and if there is any improvement with sintered ones?

Dave, what is the friction rating of the pads you are looking at? FF is the least grippy, then GG, followed by HH, which has the most grip. BTW, have you ever had the chance to ride a similar vintage Honda thumper? I wonder how they would compare?
