Cellphones cameras often die when handlebar mounted, their camera focusing mechanism won't handle the vibration and blows transmitted to the phone after a while. Hopefully your dashcam will survive.

That top pic looks great Dave, and I like your camera bracket too! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ya gotta feel for the poor little unloved Honda though.
Quietly sitting in the corner of the shed waiting for somebody to give it some love again.  :'(

Yeah, we're all guilty of that Brian, I try not to make eye contact with most of my older "projects" sitting patiently waiting for my caressing hands to bring them back to life, while I rush to finish my 4 current builds that have all arrived recently, pushing the others further down the restification queue.

At least I'll be able to go for a ride next week after 16(?) weeks of lockdown next week, making all my rego and insurance fees paid over the last few months when I wasn't allowed to actually use them, all the more worthwhile...... ;D

well the honda is a great bike, its been thrashed for years and still loves it,reliable as hell, its recently had a new rear tyre and battery so its still kept in good condition ride anywhere any time (except dirt),its in semi retirement now and i guess slowly appreciating in value?itll still get a decent run but with two bikes only half as much.

the yammy stock gearing is 14 x 50,quite low, this has 15 x 46 which makes for great hi way speed but a tall first gear, ive been swapping out the front for a 14 from time to time once we get off road, only takes a few minutes while someone smokes a cigarette, with the 15 x 46 its only just pulling 50 mph in top slightly lugging which i dont like so ive added one tooth to the rear giving 15 x 47,i havent tried it yet but im sure itll take that lugging edge off, plus better again when i use the 14 front,im too used to low low geared two stroke off road bikes?

That 15/47 should let you rev it out through the gears on the street Dave;does the bike have a toolbox ?
How's those dual sport tires feel after a few miles ?

no tacho,or neutral light,or highbeam lamp,or indicator repeaters etc,the xt version and later belgarda models do,this is pure YZ with thumper motor, the less the better on it!i was looking at a ktm 1290 adventure bike parked at work other day, what the #$%*?huge twin front discs, more instruments than a jumbo jet cockpit etc,had road going tyres on it,be a handfull on proper tracks?did an oil change today, forums reckon you cant drain the oil tank without making a mess,i can, just drop the chain and use my patented oil drain tube tool!!

well so much for the camera it mustve disliked the vibration and quit, wont even light up on the mains power adapter, also i think it killed the bike battery?these only have a simple single phase or half wave charging set up making about 2 amps!,i think the camera over loaded it had .65 volts and wont charge after that, the bike is managing 13.4 with the new battery, ill check the amps output one day.

nah,ill just forget the camera,i dont wanna look like a telly tubbie!!the xt series bikes had a heavier duty charging system with more coils on the stator etc, larger battery and a brighter glass headlight, its an upgrade that gets done but you gotta use the xt rotor which is heavier and rec/reg etc,i couldnt be #$%*ed finding parts etc plus i like this bikes low techness!!

well new battery in and its overcharging by far!!,had a cruddy loom wire connection, these have a basic system of a single diode rectifier under the tank and a dump to earth regulator under the seat, the diode works but has a crack between the terminals,i decided to use an ebay combined unit, was gonna mount it where the diode was but didnt like the heat aspect on top of the head, had to trim some fins anyway for the coil lead or under the seat so no harm done,it only make bout 1.5 amps so will never get hot internally, the 33 year old electrics so basic lasted well, hope the CDI unit keeps going?

the regulator is holding out so far, went for a day ride to the border n back, lotta nice gravel roads go forever around here, theres always a few side track real tight trails aswell,my mates on the bigger africa twin and tenere aint too keen on going down them,id do it on the TT a lot easier, the africa twin is real clean late model, wouldnt wanna ding the fairing or tank on it!
