theres an rt360 on market place right now Terry 5 grand, looks good,i bought it for you so you owe me 5 grand!!

Yeah they're getting up there in price Dave, I think I'll hang on to mine and get it looking nice, then decide what to do with it, it's just so easy to chuck around compared to a big heavy road bike, or even some of the super tall modern dirt bikes, so good for an old fart like me with deteriorating strength. An electric start would be nice, but it's an easy starter now, so might be a keeper. ;D

When can you get it registered for road use Terry ?

I'm thinking that I might give it a better resto Bill, I fired it up again today after another 140 miles on the K0 and it fired right up, but a PO has done a really awful "restoration" so I might strip it back to the bare frame and strip and paint it, and go from there. I just need to be mindful of not having too many ongoing projects at the one time. Also, I'm negotiating my first Harley "Big Twin" purchase from a mate, and part of that will be my K2 bitsa plus some cash, so need to quickly (but properly) rebuild the K2's engine as a priority. ;D

What will you do for the Bitsa's tank ?

My mate Dion who I'm doing the deal with builds race cars for a living Bill, and loves the paint job, even though he does $20K show car paint jobs, so I think I'll just clean it out and POR-15 it. If that doesn't work, Dion might have to paint another tank for it. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks Bill, yep, that's the plan. Today I replaced the tube in my RT3 back wheel, after I accidentally spun the wheel and lopped off the valve stem of the sh1tty Taiwanese tube, which was paper thin, compared to the Michelin tube I replaced it with.

I bought some nice long tyre levers after using sh1tty old screwdrivers for years, and it was no problem to remove the tyre off one side of the rim and pull the remains of the tube.

Anyhoo, despite my wobbly steel rim, the tyre went on without pinching the tube, and I was happy with how easily it went back on.

I fired it up (started second kick) and went for a belt up the driveway, around my front yard, back down the drive and around the back yard. Never got it out of first gear, but it was great fun. This bike is really growing on me, I think a reasonable resto is in order. ;D

In your wheel pic Terry it looks like the rim is bent at around 11:00 o -clock. Glad its being friendlier on your foot !

Thanks Eric, both rims have massive flat spots, so I'm gonna buy new rims and spokes for both ends. The DT1 wheels with alloy rims (which are sill round) look really sh1tty so I think I'll just use them as a template to look at when re-spoking my RT3 wheels with new rims and spokes.

With the knobby tyres you don't notice it when riding, but it looks horrible, and the spokes are quite rusty too. I can buy two new aftermarket steel  rims and spokes for around $250 USD plus shipping from Thailand, so I think I'll replace them as part of my "10 foot restoration" project. ;D

Thanks Bill, they look the same in the Ebay pics, but who knows? The good thing is regardless of how "factory" they look, they'll still look way better than the bent and buckled things that are on it now. They look like Evel Kneivel was using my RT3 for his Caesar's Palace jump, then left them in the rain for 30 years......... ;D

That E K did most of his jumps w/o crashing.Do you think there were ever any motorcycle jumpers who would jump simultaneously across rows of vehicles at the same time, but coming from different directions? pass each other in the middle ? That would be some scary sh*t  ::) :o

I was scrolling through YouTube the other day and came across a fair number tv coverage videos of other bike jump record holders from the 70's that I'd never heard of. Some of them died setting their records and I'm sure some could never ride again after setting theirs.

lol,I wonder how many prospective sponsors would approach him and ask if he will test(helmet, boots, gloves) their safety equipment ? I imagine when he endorsed the equipment it had to have withstood the 'acid test'.

One lap in a Supercross race is more air time than any of Evil's biggest jumps.

True, but comparing what Evel was doing on a Triumph or a Harley in the 60's and 70's to what Supercross guys are doing now is like comparing the Wright Brothers to Boeing. (Although the Wright brothers had a better safety record....) ;D

Fair enough too, a bike half the weight of Evel's Harley or Triumph with much better suspension. I'd like to see someone do it on a stripped down CB750 or GT750, TX650 etc, that'd be comparing apples with apples. ;D

The Harvey Davis was Evil's choice. Even his kid Robbie had enough sense not to jump with a freaking Massey Ferguson! BTW Evil started his jumping on a CL77 (305 Scrambler). Or maybe he just used the Honda between Brit bikes and Harley.

I think he used whatever was available back in the day mate, and he wouldn't have gotten very far on a CL77, the Harley or Triumph would have been a definite improvement! His son was a generation later, as was the bikes available then. Once again, lets compare apples with apples!;D
