Good on you for springing for the real deal petcock Dave. I think we've all made the mistake of buying the cheapo china petcocks and having to replace them.

You had the bike out in the bush yet?

this arvo stevo,coupla mates and I gonna do a shake down today,just filled it up runs well,there a noisey sort of motor with rattles that most forums say to ignore?doesent sound like a chaff cutter but my first thumper ride for years.

went great,i forgot how forgiving the handling is on these,#$%*en fast,great power slides,lost one on a tight leftie,spun out but didnt drop it or stall the engine,ended up in knee deep weeds!

yeah its a different sort of ride as far as the motor is concerned,after the sohc four the engine braking is something to get used to?hardly use the brakes once ya get a feel for it?the cb500 the motor just sort of free wheels down hills,these are like a truck with the jacob engaged?im loving it,im gonna sleep in the garage with it tonight!

that tenere in the photo is sort of the next gen of these?,but 660 motor,water cooled,electric start and fans on the radiator,20 plus litre steel tank,non quick release rear wheel etc,just too heavy and fat?my mate likes it,he also has a yammy TDM and a TRX,both 850s and great bikes!the TT600 is obvioulsy a four stroke yz?showa forks factory and ohlins rear factory,it only weighs bout 140 kilos,real plush suspension,great self centering steering even over rough stuff for a 33 year old bike.

got new caliper seals the other day stuck em in this arvo,it wasnt leaking or anything but as a matter of course 20 bucks for genuine seals is cheap,the slider was all hardened grease of course,old seals looked fine and no corrosion inside!

Great bike that big Yam TT600 Dave.I never owned one of the big thumper dirt bikes,a lot of weight to haul in the dirt but the bike is excellent.

yeah not really heavy,at 140 kilos its lighter than my 185 kilo cb500!i rode it onto a weighbridge,its goes just so well and is better all round than my cb500,steers better on the road,stops better,my wife hates it reckons its a plastic piece of #$%*?she dont ride though!its a little tall for me stationary but i dont keep still for long,took it up the hills to beechmont this arvo,they fly those hang gliders and stuff here,not real windy so i had to tow start a few to get em airbourne,yeah right?im really happy with it for not too much money,great all rounder for me plus a little obscure,i aint seen one for years let alone registered and on the road,ill bet guys here n there will tell me about the xt they had but these are a tt,not the same chassis at all,plus this is the last year model with im told with revised 4th and 5th gear?head and camshaft,itll easily out drag race my 550 powered honda,and has longer legs.

Here in the States the TT600 is a dirt only model and wasn't meant to be registered.How did you get it street legal ?

it has a factory australian compliance plate!this was the last model that complied i think then the rules were tightened up,for example the headlight only runs off the generator,if ya stall at night it goes out,the xt was more compliant all over,the TT were like the IT models here,they also had compliance,i had a road registered it250 and also an it400 once.

Dave, me and some friends were trail riding yesterday, stopped for a break at the wooden bridge over the creek when along comes an old timer ring dingin along on an it250 like yours. We all had to cheer! I have an It250 also, not running, gotta get after it! Mine is the next generation after yours...has a redesigned rear suspension...

yeah that was an 83,i think the best dirt bike ive owned?this had the needle roller monocross de carbon rear end,twin leading shoe front brake,very light bike,mine was geared down,might do 60mph?

seeing im gonna ride a little bit more on dirt i thought id spring for some proper boots?ive always worn on the road just my steel toe work boots,mate put me onto these,theres a shop here that has these very boots but with their logo and quite a few more dollars,so i did what any of us would do i went and tried em on in the shop to get the correct size before i got em online,the shop only had brown anyway i want black,149 bucks delivered!

im gearing this thing down!its been way geared up over the factory gearing,stock is 14x50,this has 15x46,thats well over!no wonder it didnt like 5th gear under bout 50mph and was roosting all over on the dirt?way too tall and with its grunt just spun the rear spraying rocks n #$%*,ya gotta be able to walk a dirt bike in first with a little throttle if ya need to?ive put a 49 rear leaving the 15 front for now,see how it is tomorrow,so its now one over front,and one under rear,thatll be a tad taller over stock,if it was a pure dirt only trailered bike id have 13 front and 52 rear believe me!

gonna have to use a new chain for those three teeth,i thought id squeeze it but wont do,id already bought a chain because i half new that already,whos gonna be first to flame me?non o ring heavy duty?o ring chains aint no stronger,the main roller aint sealed anyway whats the point?less weight n friction on these,free power?then ya get those x rings?remind me off those twin blade wipers for your car,they trap dirt between the two blades?nothing wrong with heavy duty chains,half the price,less drag,just maintain em ya slack bastards!

well i geared it down three on the rear,its still taller than stock by one more on the front and one less on the rear,its woken it up,it werent slow to start with,im loving this thing,its shortened all the gears but its got a more realistic first gear now,id like it lower but i gotta ride it to get to dirt roads first so gotta keep a ratio for hi way speeds,these wouldve been so great on the road when brand new?unsuspecting cars and bikes aint got a chance at red lights,i dont blip the throttle just let it sit blub blub blub blub blub idle,then launch it!#$%*en funny,you never had these on the road in the usa,its a fat yz on steroids!!
