i dont know any friction ratings scott,i had an xr 600 for a while,i never liked it,the yammy suspension is better i think?longer wheel base and rake?i never liked the honda 23 front and 17 rear wheels, just too odd for me,thousands of guys love em though, the tt never had the road compliance stateside is why you never see em,you fellas missed out on a great all round bike!they got dropped here with my model as compliance was tightening up,like the IT they were too hot for the road in their dirt bike/motocross guise?the xt and dt carried on more compliant and a bit tamer?look at ktm and huskies now though?all compliant somehow.

well had a good run today with a coupla mates, bumped into kghost aswell, that brake mightve gotten a little better but little is the operative word,be fine on dirt but hauling down on the hi way it really needs to better, anyway after all my inspections and shake downs i snapped the pull throttle cable, just after i had entered a freeway on ramp in lane 2 and gunned it bout 110 kays then it went dead,i thought the #$%*en cdi or pulse coil #$%* itself but once road side the motor was still idling!,anyhow warren was with me and i was pretty close to home so i did what any self respecting dirt bike guy would do and wound the hell outta the idle screw and limped it home at 50 kays max on the flat!warren escorted me,once off the stinking freeway i felt safer, got it fixed all ready, kghost has a shop and he fitted a new inner and silver soldered new nipples on a sunday!warren picked up a screw in the service lane along the freeway, another job for Tim.

Dave, after just getting on the Interstate HighWay:snapped throttle cable..eaouch  :o >:( Was a mighty good thing you had a mate there to escort(he picked-up a nail, etc.,that's hard..) you, plus Kghost was there to renew your old throttle cable:that looks like a very nice custom result and should last you for the life of the TT600.  :) Even though a bunch of bad things happened, things sweetened-up for you ! I'm beginning to think of you as 'Dave600'  :)
I certainly hope those EBC sintered pads give you more stopping power up front.

yeah Tim has a great shop, has full kit for cables and all the gear etc,its a lost art that kinda thing at most bike shops, most would say i can get you one in?better for the cable to snap where it did than down some ravine?lane 2 at high speed was a bit dodgy though?lotta cars around,i got lucky pulling over through a gap.

well Tim insisted a take a length of spare cable with a coupla little brass nipples with tiny grub screws as a spare breakdown kit,i fastened a tiny allen key from a fold out set all packaged neat,it would temporary repair even a clutch cable i think?its a good luck charm,if i have it onboard itll never get used!
got the new sintered pads in,made in usa EBC of road high performance, ill check em out over the weekend, with a new disc at 169 bucks and pads at 55 you beaut aussie dollars they better bloody work a darn sight better than just replacing the disc!

30 kays on the new pads, they work better, not too touchy, only bedded in about 50% so far?havent really heated em yet, theyll only get better as more friction material contacts the disc.

yeah today we did near 400 kays, they mustve bedded in more by now?, im keen to flip the caliper up and see how they look,so easy to do on this bike, they stop so much better without being too touchy on the dirt,we hit some real soapy clay sections today and a couple of us got out of shape but no one came off,im more than impressed with these mitas tyres on the road and on dirt, all the other guys are using dunlop 606 dot knobbies,i think they wear out too fast on the road and maybe offer less grip on wet tarmac?was a damp day with a little rain here n there but didnt get rained on,you can see here its wet,its great thumping into a little town on this old dinosaur!was a ktm 690 with us today,it only just won a rolling start drag race with the yammy!the bloke is much younger than me but has a rod in one leg from a bad bike crash,he still rides well and was impressed by the old yammy and what it can do,a 33 year old 3000 dollar bike vs a 10,000 dollar rig!

had a rear indicator stop working, one of the front ones did the same last ride, just an earth needed soldering in both cases, these have gotta be the most cheap n crappy indicators you can buy, they aint even sealed properly,im pretty sure the TTs had dealer fitted indicators where the ITs had real good yammy ones,if they keep failing ill look at something else to replace them, gotta be all tucked in and minimal though.

yeah scott the old pads were ferodo platinum organic, these sintered haul it up better on the tarmac where the organics would fade, they were ok on dirt but hauling down from 70 mph plus hard on tarmac they just wernt up to it,im glad the sintered aint too grabby on dirt.

no ive never seen those marks on any pads?might not apply to australia?be good if they did though, ill tell you something else, wet dry or muddy the front brake was the same every time, not like our hondas where if its wet they take ten seconds to start working!

Ah, pic was a distance shot, couldn't tell and not familiar with detailed differences.  Love a 351, friend had a Boss Mustang with that motor in high school, lucky stiff, and scared the hell out of me one time, driving like a nut.

I had a 1969 Mercury Cougar when I lived on an Island off Cape Cod in MA. in the 1980's:the car was orig. from CA.(no rust)and it had a 351W with a 4 BBL carb stock from the factory.I bought it from a man who left it sitting for years and began slowly making it very nice:I ran out of $ and had to sell it.. I miss that car !

well i dont like the rattle from the engine under load at certain rpm, thought id investigate the cam chain, looks pretty rooted, might even be the wrong one?doesent seem to sit on the sprocket properly,i know its worn but sort of sits wrong?
