Side cover “jewels”
« on: April 06, 2020, 07:26:14 PM »
My bike is a CB750 K2, built 11/71. When I got it, it appeared dead stock, not molested at all. All the oddball K2 stuff was correct. It came with Red jewels on the side covers....is this correct for an early K2? I know most are orange.

What color is the bike ? If it is gold maybe somebody put K1sidecovers on it or maybe they were replaced at one time and red was chosen. Some people say there are/were some oddball K2's around with some K1 stuff from the factory.

then from cms parts page for the U.S. model....do your frame and engine #'s show it's a K2 ?......
according to the honda guide book, the K1 was released on 9/21/70.........the K2 was released on 3/01/72......like ekpent asked, what color.....

i'm definitely not calling him one. I think  others have pointed out mistakes. I wouldn't know one way or the other.
I point it out as a source, and hope it helps.....

Definitely a K2. Has instrument panel, K2 gauges, signal beep cancel button, K2 style seat, black headlight shell, etc.

If delivered that way makes it special. I have read here about mixed builds on K2s with K1 parts or similar.

so if the jewels have the "HM" on 'em, and there's no expert to say yes or no, then no one can dispute it came that way.
Not being the original owner, and it appears it's a restoration....that might be a point of discussion.....but Honda did  make errors....
anyway, nice bike....

I bought this bike in original unrestored condition. All restoration was done by myself. Yes, the jewels are original with the hm wing logos. I have seen K2s with K1 taillight bracket, etc.

My K2 (one of the very first) came with the orange ones.
