Finally rebuilding my CB 750
« on: April 13, 2020, 05:04:37 am »
I bought this bike almost 20 years ago. It was the cheapest I could find back then and as anyone can guess, the condition of the bike wasn't anything to brag about. It was missing the original gauges, it had a set of (to my untrained eye) ugly wheels which turned out to be Kim Tab Snowflakes. I sold them to a guy in Porvoo I think? He had a CB with a sidecar. All the wiring was crap as were the forks and brakes etc. etc.

I rode the bike hard for a period of four years, thrashed at least two transmission etc. At one point I upgraded the suspension and brakes with FZR 600 stuff, adequate brakes and forks for a bike of this age. Not too hi-tech but in balance with the stock frame imo.

2005 I bought my first Suzuki and the Honda was left in the garage waiting for it's turn. I have purchased a lot of parts for it over the years and now it's high time to put them in use and ride her again.

Few words about the motor and other stuff around it:
Wiseco 65mm pistons
ported head, stock valves, Kibblewhite springs and retainers
125-75 cam
undercut transmission
lightened crank
GSX-R 750 carbs
Dyna 2000 ignition
not sure about the exhaust yet, perhaps a Delkevic

Oh yes  ;D
I'm trying to sort out all my bikes now. Maybe one bike a year plus some time spent on my '89 Chevy Van.

yep, VM29SS from first series GSR750 where about the last sides to be fitted to big street bikes.... not that easy to find nowadays.

As a past owner i can tell you that with VM29s, the gsxr was one on-off beast.... fit them with a generation later CV carbs and they become pussycats...

Nice carbs yes. These were on my sons junior dragbike. 1982 Katana 1166cc with Mike Rieck head and Cam Motioin G4's etc. 142hp at the wheel. Was enough for a 15 year old  ;D
Now they are machined to 32mm.

Wow, nice carbs.
Left the factory 1973, registered to Åland 1974 and to mainland Finland 1975.
Unfortunately I don't have many pics of the bike back then and now it's in bits and pieces. Will post some as I come along.

Swingarm is a combinaion of FZR and CBR. I wasn't happy with the FZR arm I used 17 years ago, so this is the result. Gonna have it powder coated after I make sure it fits and works like I want it to. Gonna use a Suzuki 4½" x 17" wheel with 160/60 rubber and a combination of Suzuki and Yamaha brake parts.

Match made in Japan. Honda throttle and cables fit straight to the Suzuki carbs.

FWIW several guys on the cb1100f forum have the Hindle pipes on their bikes, and I've seen and heard them in person.
To me it's a really nice looking, quality pipe for the $$$$ 😀
