Where can I find a front axle distance collar?
« on: April 13, 2020, 04:59:32 PM »
Hey guys, working on my project 1977 cb750k and noticed it's missing the axle distance collar where it sits in the hub between the bearings. Anyone know where I can find one or a re-pro? The original part no 44620-300-020 is discontinued like everything else. Checked ebay and there is one re-production that just looked like a standard pipe cut to length, but that one is from deutchsland and not sure if that is sufficient.

Part#7 in the parts diagram

Thanks.

Perhaps you can find a used front hub on ebay and pull the spacer from it.  Just a thought.

Are you reassembling a basket case? That part would be rather hard to lose if you took the bearings out yourself. It's not difficult to make one, the tricky part is the flanges that centre it "close enough" to get the axle through. Probably one of use has one from a "spare parts" bike, sorry but I do not. Some parts out of my cannibalized bikes I want to keep for spares but the axle spacer, no. They don't wear out and if one fell off while riding ... finding it would be way far down the list of things I need to do.

I think he means the internal bearing spacer. If someone can measure one he can make one.,
When making them, I have made aluminium washer for ends to center them in the hub.

Frank..... the original tabs are kind of useful. I usually bend the spacer crooked to drive the bearings out more easily, then straighten them before installation. Crude, but works well! I probably have some extras......

I know they are,  hard to assemble without.
But I had mentioned making one, and the times I did, I made aluminium washers bored to press onto the tube, to perform the same function.

Hey ya'll, sorry for the late response but I somehow got lucky and found a NOS on ebay, the seller had entered the wrong part number in the title but the pictures revealed the right part number that I needed.

Something like this wouldn't be hard to make though with the right piping cut to size and some kind of collar on the ends.

It's not hard to make , except you need to know the length, and if you don't have material close to size , it takes longer to make.

Looks like Yamiya is making them. Around $30 for the front and rear collar.

Too bad they have no claws, I have made alloy press on washers to  help center them in the bore
