Topic: Frame painting

Hi

I have finally for the motor out my 74 CB550.

Next job is prepping and respraying the frame.

I heard good things about VHT rollcage and chassis paint.

Any one else have a good recommendations?

Primer - anyone had a good experience with one?
Paint - satin ideally , nothing too glossy
Clear , maybe a matte / satin rather than high gloss.

I have a paint remover already but it's a brush on one. I think I prefer this as you can really get in the nooks and crannies.

I’m a big POR15 fan. Goes on easy, self levels, very hard and durable.

I prefer powder coat.   I have a guy that does it for $100, the finish and durability cannot be beat.

Some guys may say you cant touch it up it it gets damaged, but it is so durable, my bikes with powder have not had any damage to them.

A friend of mine uses Eastwood Chassis paint.  I started using Black Rustoleum Appliance epoxy a couple of years ago.  I stripped, primed and painted a CB360 frame and let it set outside for a year.  It still looks good.   https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009XEL3U/ref=twister_B086RQR4B3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I prefer powder coating for frames.  If I wanted to "paint" them, I'd probably spray with Cerakote.

I use a black rustoleum out of a paint can with a QTIP for touch up spots or chips in my powder coat.
