Sandcast speedo body removal..
« on: April 22, 2020, 02:57:48 PM »
Hello everyone...thank you for letting me join your group..I have a sandcast speedo that I am trying to determine how to remove the body from the guage housing..everything works,6944 miles are showing...The problem is at some point,it got damp inside of the lense,so I am trying to remove the body from the guage in order to clean the inside of the lense.I see that the body is one piece, and that the rear plastic of the housing wraps around the back side of the guage housing itself..I tried very gingerly to get a small screwdriver in-between the 2 surfaces and since it is hard plastic,I am afraid of  damaging either,or both...Tried looking it up on utube and all I got was removing the face with a router, but nothing more...Any help would be most appreciated..

I’ve gently carved away a bit (exactly knife). Digging in the seam, from the back. Remove almost nothing. They pop off easily, then a bit of black silicone when pushing them back on. Will be curious to hear what others have done.......

The cover is glued to the base, the glue can be separated with a small screw driver, Yamiya has replacements if broken.
