4 Cell Antigravity Battery
« on: April 15, 2020, 10:19:10 PM »
Im in the process of replacing all the electronics and wiring in my 1974 CB550, Ill be using a Ricks regulator/rectifier combo and a m-unit blue. I plan to ride my bike to and from work at least 3x a week and cruise probably once a week. Is it possible to use only a 4 cell? Ill be kick starting as much as possible and keep a close eye in the charge level before using. Whats your thoughts on a 4  cell instead of the 8 cell? Dos and donts? Has anyone ran 2 4cells parallel to maintain the flatness of the 4 cell?

my roommate ran a 4 cell and his bike had a 1v parasitic drain, destroyed the battery in a couple weeks. You would want to make sure the wiring and charging system was pristine because there's not a lot of room for error before you irreparably drain the battery.

Im in the process of replacing all the electronics...
Why? Anything broken?

Dos and donts?
Donts: IMO all things you mentioned. What a waste of money.
Things in the electric domain that had to be renewed on mine since it left the assembly line in 1976, apart from batteries and a few bulbs: NONE.

Don't expect the four-cell AG battery to run the electric starter; kick only. Also, you will need the Lithium specific Rick's reg/rect, as the Antigravity lithium-ion batteries are prone to melt-down if overcharged. :o
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!
