Have you ever seen a swingarm like this?
« on: April 22, 2020, 03:29:52 AM »
Guy posted a query on reddit about the swingarm on a project CB750K2 he just bought. I've never seen one like it. Could it have been used on a drag bike?

You only go around once in life so it might as well be on a motorcycle.

I've seen one like that, I think either here in this forum or another...........just don't know what it is.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

Not any Dresda i ever seen
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Well, that type of bracing was done for both drag racing and road racing.

Above is the Yoshimura Wes Cooley Suzuki Superbike from the late 70s.

The lower bracing is done to primarily increase twist resistance and overall stiffness, and is typically designed in for an arm to use especially thin wall rectangular tubing for the main arm.

Drag bikes occasionally use that approach today with extra long custom swingarms on bikes making big power.
