ANZAC DAY
« on: April 24, 2020, 02:42:24 PM »
Just observed Dawn Service from our front yard, along with quite a few others in our street.
It felt a little surreal.

Lit a candle and watched the sun rise.

Had a good percentage of the neighbours from our street out the front and on the road.
Had someone playing the bugle and  both national anthems played. Good to see.

Much respect to our allies and all who served. I never knew my Uncle in the Americal Div. of the US army that died at Bougainville but I inherited his foot locker.  I understand he was quite a character and Dad said he was not afraid of the devil himself.

The good thing about ANZAC, is, we have been kicking each others arses in sport ever since, can still have a beer together afterwards tho.

We watched the sun rise over the mountains, held candles and most unexpectedly someone had set up a seriously loud PA at the war memorial about 100 yards from our place and played the last post and revellie
Heard later it was clearly audible a couple of km away
Quite eerie and very moving
i blame Terry
