Nobody told me, found it at Yamiya and found out how long it was when I got it. Saw that stock should be too short

Don’t worry about buying from Yamiya, they do a great job, parts are top quality.

You shorten the rear lug, is that correct.
First time I hear about shaving down the lug. Any numbers or pictures? If i shave it down, i'll need to add even more washers to top it from binding, won't it?

I couldn't figure out why you guys are talking about shaving lugs until I saw the author of the DTT link. ::) Anubis, AKA el cheapo, was run off this forum years ago. There is NO shaving of lugs required!!!!

I slowly filed/sanded the bracket and used shims until I had a straight fit, rather than the forks. Much easier to replace a bracket.

Did you fit a 3mm spacer between the hub and the right side brake rotor?

Damn, I'm glad I caught this... Bike was on the lift and getting prepped for partial lug-iotimy! I'll take it for a spin tomorrow and dbl check brake operation. I'll sharpie the rotor and see where the pad rubs.

Definitely don't need to shave the lugs. I found an excellent write up on the Blacksquare bike that I used for my conversion. It mentions the different lug lengths and using an extra space/washer. For some reason the link is dead but I probably have a download somewhere I can .pdf if anyone wants it.

Did you have problems getting the front wheel on with the dual calipers?

Thats the only real problem, to remove wheel both calipers have to be unbolted, but not disconnected

That is quite common, with most later bikes with dual discs from the factory at least one caliper has to be removed to get the front wheel out.

 I'm thinking on my 76F I used the stock bolt and moved the nut to the inside of the bracket next to the spring. It was the best stopping bike I've been on but I only ride old bikes.

On my dual brake cb400 I can get the wheel out by deflating the tyre a little, with both calipers still in place ;D

Checked my dual disc mounting setup last night.  Standard left caliper mounts flush to the fork, no washers, stock fender on the inside of the bracket (not between the bracket and fork).  Right caliper mounts flush to the fork for the lower bolt and the fender mounts between the top bracket and the fork to act as a spacer.  Remove the rubber mounting points from the fender and press in locking washers into the fender hole (it fits perfectly, got the tip from Godffery!).  This spaces everything perfectly.

 Just a passing note, I'm a big fan of the double disc front but moved my 750A front wheel assembly with 2 rotors on it yesterday and was reminded how heavy it seems. Rotor drilling is once again in my future. Somewhere I have the drill patterns printed out.

do you know for certain that the components on both sides are exact mirror images of one another?  In other words are you comparing apples and apples?

I did this several years ago.  Best modification I ever did.  Enjoy it!

that's the thing...it seems like everybody comes up with a slightly different story.  I think this is because the right fork leg not being finish machined, that castings can vary enough that the instructions for this mod must remain flexible.
If it works good, it looks good...
