Frankenstein Question?
« on: April 26, 2020, 06:01:16 AM »
Hello, first poster here. I would like to know if a 73’ 750 engine/ trans would fit into a 1979 650 Frame? Thank you for any information!

Simple answer no, not without a lot of cutting and welding

+1 Totally different. It could work with a lot of fab work but it would probably take the same amount of work to put a washing machine in the frame.

The 650 is a great motor and with a big bore kit can put out some good numbers. My 674cc project bike gets 68hp and 41lb/ft torque and I don’t know the first thing about extracting power from a motor. Also weighs less than the 750 motor, actually almost exactly the same weight as the 550 motor.

Thank you.. I appreciate the responses. So I have the frames side by side. Do you know what area on the engine/trans that won’t fit? They look pretty identical as far as bolt holes, mounting area. Thanks again!

From my personal bike, anything from 70 to 78 is swappable. I have a 75 motor in my 78 frame.

If you think it will go try it BUT be advised unless you get specialist insurance they could walk away as Honda designed the frame for the weight and power output of a 650 not a 750
