I was recently followed home by a low mileage (12K) '78 550K. I have begun restoration, so the exhaust is off. The rears of the mufflers (wheel side) have a lot of rust (but not rust through). I am thinking of painting the rears with chrome paint, which I think will improve appearance. My question, what temperatures do the mufflers reach. The Favor? I'm hoping someone will have no contact thermometer and give me a reading of muffler temperature after warming up. I think the paint is limited to about 250 degrees (Fahrenheit)
