Carb boot clamps
« on: May 02, 2020, 09:26:28 AM »
Does anyone have suggestions for cleaning up carburetor clamps on the SOHC Hondas ?  I know I can simply degrease them. What I am looking for is some way to remove the 40+ year patina and make them look new again

I'm sure an evaporust bath would do them good if they look anything like my old ones lol. Thought about doing that but ended up replacing them with the 32-50mm Norma Torro SS ones.

Wonder if some kind of jewelry polishing solution, the kind you soak rings and necklaces in would be useful on that metal? Not sure

They clean easily because the metal is soft. Buffing wheel and white or grey compound will make them look like chrome; otherwise, a Dremel with a wire or scouring wheel; or wire brush and/or 400 grit sandpaper. All will do the job.

Soak them in a jar of CLR for a couple hours, they clean up just fine.
