speedometer break in decal?
« on: April 30, 2020, 01:36:39 pm »
Just came across this listing

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1976-Honda-CB/324150754385?hash=item4b78e3fc51%3Ag%3AhzAAAOSwyyJeqQOh&LH_ItemCondition=3000%7C1000%7C2500

Didn't realize I needed this! However on ebay I can only find arced ones that I believe are for the 80s bikes. Like this.

1970 CB750 K0
1970 CL350 K2
1975 CB400 F0
1977 CB750 Chop

My 75 550F has that on it when I found it in 1994. I remember the 76 F model I bought brand new had that kind on it. It was never a honda orderable part.
I can't speak for other models.

Dont remember it on UK bikes, maybe a US dealer thing
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

It was the first thing i pulled off in 1976 when I got my bike home, the second thing i did was wash off all those yellow paint marks.

curious, ...do you have a document that shows what areas where dabbed? Or are you just going by examples of other bikes. I believe my bike has all the areas painted that were original from the factory  and I couldn't or wouldn't add any even if they were missing, but was wondering what you were using as a guide...

I always pulled that decal off as well as the stupid warning stickers that they stuck on the gas tank. It didn't take long for the paint to fade enough to see the spot if you waited too long to peel the sticker off.
