New? Air Box mod
« on: May 02, 2020, 06:48:18 PM »
Been working on several open airbox designs. Just trying to do something new(?) Although its probably been done. Just finished this one; only additional parts were a 12x12 piece of perforated metal and some uni foam. Used the stock inside standoff bolts to attach the screens, just waiting on a set of airbox boots to test it out. Has anyone here tried something similar?

I also have some 3D designs I've been working on for a more traditional style breadbox with antipod style innards but won't be able to get any prototypes printed up until this pandemic passes as all my shops are dedicating themselves to making medical supplies.

I'd love to hear feedback on both, thanks!

I posted a comment and then deleted it, as I asked before the other pictures were posted and they answered my question. Cool idea! I'll be excited to see what it looks like on the bike. I'm still a newbie so I couldn't even begin to comment on functionality

Dolomite.... that looks great and so simple! I assume you sandwiched the foam between two perforated plates? What did you wrap around the edge? Looks super tidy and effective

Yes, its uni 30ppi between two plates. I just slowly trimmed the plates with tin snips and that's just regular edge guard trim on the outside

Boy those designs are awesome! I'm looking into doing that myself for my 73 CB500 four using stock style air box boots from a Cb400 four if the fit or just deal with the stock ones where the outer ones are angled. Any body know the carb diameter foe these CB400 four carbs. the CB500 four is 39mm
