Honda CB400F, 1975, Torque specs
« on: May 02, 2020, 06:44:47 AM »
Does anybody have a list of different torque specs for the Honda CB400F engine? I find only really barebones one, which doesn't have what i need. More specifically i am searching for the torque specs for the breather cover bolts and the rocker tappet covers.

You dont do those to a torque unless you are good at helicoiling, just snug is good.

All the torques are in the genuine Honda manual

sindrenv, you will want to have a decent torque wrench when you get to your new head gasket.
Probably 3/8" drive, accurate in the range of 15 ft-lb. to 20 ft-lb.
I didn't find a torque value for the 400 head, but I did find heavy-duty head studs for your 400.
While I can't speak to the 400, I know that many use the HD studs on 750.

As Bryan said, they just need a nip. There is a torque setting for those bolts but alloy threads get weak over time and strip.

Head stud bolts are 16ftlb. After you have torqued it down, leave for 24 hours and re torque. After market head gaskets are thicker than the OEM ones and compact down more  ;)
