The airbox looks just like mine. I'm not sure how similar they were but it almost looks like that tank doesn't go with that model of CB125 but it's hard to tell. I can only see the "198" of the date stamp

OK,I see that,someone stuck that newer model CB125S tank on the 1980 model.

Yeah I would have been happier with 20 bucks but given that it's the only one I could find on ebay that's not damaged, I don't have a lot of choices!

OEM rubber parts have lasted a Long time.That rubber intake duct could last another 30 years.Have you ever done the Wintergreen oil treatment for rubber,it really freshens the rubber up.

Yes,I've been looking.I bought some a while back,had to do a lot of searching and found 4oz. of 100 pure natural wintergreen oil,less than $10 !

Excellent looking product 'opaat',have you purchased and used this to soften rock-hard rubber carb. intake manifolds ?

I have not bought or used anything to soften up rubber, but I have read about go cart folks likeing it for their tires. Softer rubber, better grip, and since that's what it is marketed for, you avoid the essential oil prices. I think I have seen a couple other brands of it too, but that is the first one that came up in a google search.

Little update to this thread. Got the bike to start and run! Fuel line was clogged, swapped that. Hooked up the Honda OEM used coil I got and put on the intake boot and it fired up after only about 45 kicks realized the exhaust was leaking at the head. Further testing proved the exhaust is plugged up completely. Of course it is! Heated the pipe up a little and poked at it with a drain snake. I left some degreaser in it overnight.

Tomorrow I'll see if I can take it to a truck shop and see if they can blow out whatever the blockage is. Might try muriatic too. Who knows what'll work. The header doesn't disconnect from the muffler so my options are limited.

Sounds a little like a James Bond style getaway gadget! Lol. I hope they're willing to do that for me. If not I have a friend with a 33 gallon compressor. Maybe 120 psi would be enough?

A good blast of 120 psi sure wont hurt it.

Little update: got new brakes, painted almost everything I could, removed rust from as many pieces as I could get to, and I'm working on the wiring now. New sprockets are on and wheel bearings are in the mail. Exhaust was cleaned out and clear coated with high temp clear.

I kinda burnt out and haven't been doing much to it. I was hoping tomorrow or Sunday I can do what I needed to still. Timing and wiring and stuff. I got a long m3 bolt to see if that's the right size for the cam chain adjuster. It's a little low on power so I'm thinking I gotta do more than just static timing. It's got a little rattle in the upper rpms that I'm hoping is the coil or something rattling against the tank and not the cam chain but I guess we'll find out when I mess with the tension.

A little update. I got the running issues figured out. Slow jet was clogged and bowl was full of dirt even after my first Clean. Must have had some crud in the tank leftover. Clean carb now and new fuel filter has it running perfectly. I really opened her up around the cemetery and rich people's development up the road. Engine compression is phenomenal. Engine braking is amazing.
 
The fuel door on the top of the tank rattles a lot at high rpms. I have the rubber trim for around the edge of it but it still rattles like crazy. I guess I gotta figure out something to do for that. Other than that I ordered a headlight and universal ignition switch and steering lock. Should work well. Speedo works great as well. Brakes work pretty nicely. Starts first kick. Good little bike
 
Btw that screw for the cam chain adjuster trick worked great. It was a 40mm M3 1.5 pitch screw.

I'm glad to hear that you have the bike on the road,running it through the gears  8).That fuel tank door over the cap is a little finicky.. there's a type of metal spring/tab in there that you can slowly bend to tighten-up how much tension is applied to the door;I hope it hasn't snapped off in a previous life.How is the break-in coming along on your engine,change the oil and running it hard ?
