Much like my K3 it's just a cleaned up frame waiting it's turn. I was getting ready to put the top end back together and replace wheel bearings/lace up 750A rims.

Yes it would be a priority but space is at a premium and I just need to get these done & gone.
I'd already bought most parts I'll need for the 160 and the K8, so at least I won't be able to procrastinate on that.

Vintagecb750 caught up with me on Ebay the other day with an offer on this K8 harness. I jumped on it since i haven't seen any others available since the discussion below back in January '22. Ive been collecting parts for a while now.

...Now to find some oven cleaner to get the anodize off of the 2 sets of CB750A/GL1100 wheels and choose which will go on the K8.

Almost a full year later I've finally found Oven Cleaner on the shelf at a local store! I bought 2 cans and will be polishing these wheels up first chance I get.

I took some time this afternoon to scrape the crap off these two sets of 750A/GL1000 wheels and gave them a good wire brushing.

Next up is buying more damn oven cleaner to strip the clear anodize from these wheels so I can polish them. I know I bought some in April of 2021 just for this purpose, but unfortunately I just didn't put them where I'd be able to find them.

Oven cleaner obtained, rims sprayed and left 15 minutes before rinsing. Some black residue remained, so I reapplied and scrubbed each all over, reapplied and let them soak. Then 5 minutes later thunderboomers and the sky opened up, perfectly rinsing side 1 of the four rims.

When it let's up I'll give the other sides a look.

Yes, containing sodium hydroxide. It did a fairly good job but I still have to wet sand some pits out before polishing.

I found some residue on the wheels that may have contained lye, so I gave these rims a good scrub in a 3:1 water/vinegar mix to neutralize any potential remnants of the oven cleaner.

Some of the clear anodize still remains though, so I'm spending some time sanding through the grits removing what's left and prepping for polish.

This might take a while.

The two 19" front wheels came up beautifully.

I'll need to repeat this with the two 17" rears.

How do you like the 21" front you've been running ?

The 21" front is for my Royal Enfield Interceptor. It's a fine upgrade from the 18" stocker. I'm enjoying the difference in handling and ride quality. But a friend gave me a spare set of wheels with stock tires for that bike, so I'm running those until I wear them out. The Fall riding season looks to be very good this year.

The alloy rimes from the 750A are nice looking 
You going with polished spokes or new ?

I'm going with new spokes from VintageCB750.com, I have one set of front and rear, 750A style with washers. I'll lace up the two nicest rims and save the others for later.

I want to take my time and not cut too many corners, although sometimes it is tempting.

Today's results, another bout with oven cleaner on the two 17" rear rims.

Apparently it takes 2 rounds to do this right. So if anyone is going to try, don't bother sanding until you've had oven cleaner on them twice, scrubbed, resprayed, scrubbed, resprayed, rinsed, flipped and repeated. Then rinse and neutralize with water&vinegar (thanks Tyler) 1gallon+1pint scrubbing with the same brush, then hand dry.

No sanding today but they came out nice.
