YES that is RIGHT - She FIRED up today - great feeling. For the first time in so many years she startet and ran evenly.
I have been waiting for DPD (parcel carrier) to deliver my new carb boots for more than 21 days now - and the distance is no more than 100 miles. Have mailed and phoned them but it looks like they do an average distance of 5 miles pr. day. They are full of excuses - I am afraid they have mislayed the parcel and can't find it and won't admit it. Didn't have anymore patience with DPD so i tried to start her with the exsisting boots mounted as shown on the photos earlier in this thread.
Had a bit of troubles getting her to start. I had to pull the plugs and clean them - try starting her again. I had the charger on the battery all the time to have enough charge/current.
Used an old plastic ketchup bottle as gas tank - connected to the carb through 2 different sizes of fuel tubing to even out the differencen in size between ketchup bottle nozzle and carb fuel intake
.
I Had no dripping from float houses but I could se that gas was running fra ketchup bottle to carb so that part of carb rebuild worked ok.
Gave it full choke and half throttle and in the third attempt it started. Had quite a bit of smoke from the exhaust but i guess that was from the oil i earlier sprayed into the cylinders through the sparkplug holes.
After a short period of warm up i let go of the choke and she ran fine. Didn't smell to much of gas from the exhaust while running. I could even get her to idle nicely at approx 1100 rpm's. She took throttle very nice even though there was no airfilter on. I guess this points to a bit to rich idle. She got equally warn on all four exhausts so they are all firing. I made a small movie of her firing. It can be seen here
http://www.kjellerup-hansen.dk/MVI_0491.AVI. As you can se i had to stop because I got smoke from oil i have spilled on the exhausts.
I guess that i have been very lucky getting the balancing of the carb fairly right through the benchsync.
What a weekend this has been.
Yesterday i was out on the local racing track trying mc racing and today my old cb550k3 started for the first time in many many years.
