Issue with cold start CB Four 500 1973

Dear all , this issue already happened twice  in the last years .

when i start my CB500  with closed choke it fires right up ,  i hold/play with  the throttle to keep the engine running but suddenly the engine dies and will not start anymore unless i change  the sparks.

Any help is welcome

Could you be flooding it? How long did it "not start" before you decided to change the plugs?

All the 500's i have had need full choke to start but need it immediately removed a bit. Also ost of them wont idle cold if the tickover screw is set warm, i think thats why its so easy to get to.

By reading your reply i believe the problem is that i kept  the choke too long, probably
As a matter of fact usually soon after firing it up i lower  to mid and gradually to full open  the choke lever while balancing  with the throttle but not this last time.
