Where to find shorty clutch cable for CB500 w/ clipons?
« on: May 25, 2020, 10:02:57 AM »
I'm putting clipons on my 1972 CB500K, and need shorter-than-stock cables. 4into1 has shorty cables for throttle (aftermarket, I know, I know), but nothing for the clutch.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a shortened clutch cable? Anyone had luck running the stock clutch cable with clipons? Anyone recommend a good tutorial on building your own cables?

I got shorty clutch and throttle cables from Motion Pro. Not quite OEM quality but decent for a few years of use. I suggest getting written confirmation of exactly what you are ordering before going ahead -- lengths, color, cable type, ... I did not get what I ordered on my first try (but they made it right). For my 550 with 400F/superbike style bars I was down 4" from stock -- with clipons you may be down 5-6". I laid out the old cable on the desired routing to measure the length I needed. FYI, I also needed a shorter upper brake line with a specific banjo angle to route through the upper triple tree space -- I got a SS one custom made by Spiegler.
