‘78 750 carburetor missing key part HELP!,,,
« on: August 10, 2020, 02:06:57 pm »
After restoring old bikes for 10+ years, I somehow have misplaced a key part to one of the carburetors while rebuilding. It’s not a tiny part, but a part that slides onto the slide rail that provides a way to adjust the height of the slide. I have removed EVERY ITEM in my garage searching for this adjuster arm , and folks, it just ain’t here. Frustration has set in, and now I think that the only recourse I have is to post a photo of the carb bank, as well as the carb that’s missing this part. Please forgive me, as I’m not very talented when it comes to these I-pads and how to pos pics, but here goes!   Oh, and thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.  Everywhere I look here on the inter web says the parts is “no longer available”.

Isn’t it supposed to be like that? One carb being the master for syncing?

Or is this an older picture? Please circle what you are missing. I probably have it but am in Europe so might want to try our American friends first

The #2 carb is typically the "static" carb, but I don't know if it really matters which one is used for the baseline adjustment. Also, I don't see your choke linkage spring connected between the #2 and #3 carbs either. I describe this choke linkage spring here:

Spent ALL DAY re-assembling these carbs. Had it not been for the links provided here, wouldn’t have happened. As it stands, everything appears to be functioning properly with the exception of the 4 choke plates binding once the cross bar is attached, along with the back plate.  Choke plates will not operate with these two parts installed and tightened.  I have half a day to work on them today...very difficult for me.

Common problem, especially since the 3/4 choke plates are spring driven from the 1/2 choke rod (i.e. no direct solid link). With the 3/4 choke plates in the closed position loosen the two screws and allow the plate to "align" with the carb body and retighten. Might take a couple of tries, but it can be done. You're almost there!
