LED turn signal issue
« on: May 28, 2020, 08:51:08 AM »
I realized that I have been putting these questions in my Project thread.....Project Learning Curve.....and I probably have been doing so in the wrong place and should be reserved for updates only.  So here is my attempt to correct that.

I have a fresh battery, I have an EP35 LED compatiable 3 prong relay, I have all of the them hooked up.  Red to light blue and oragne ..... Blacks to Green.  I have taken out the turing indicator bulbs with no change during my testing.  I have checked to ensure the blinker module is worknig with a test light up to the switch and it does.  But when I use the switch the side I am turning on goes on but does not blink.

Playing around with some things last night.  I was checking wiring and grounds and doing a lot of reading on other peoples issues but still nothing has turned up.

I was turning the switch on and off to check various things with the test light and all of a sudden everything worked!!!  That is the good news.......the bad news is that the only way it works is if I barely move the trun signal switch to the left or right.  If I go to the fully latched position then the lights just stay on and no blinking occurs.  If it is just barly moved in either direction then all works as it should.

What is up with this?  Is this  a switch issue or some transiant thing where certain wires are contacted and it works vs the latched position?

Thanks for any help

What did you do with the signal buzzer? The way to use the signal without triggering the buzzer is to only move the switch part way.

Are you using LED bulbs in the stock housing? If so I recommend LED in the front only and stock bulbs in the rear.

The stock buzzer is not on the bike when I got it and is not there now.  I think the location is behind the headlight correct.....in a square hole?  It is not there.  Also, the running lights are not hooked up.  Also, all turn signals are two wire LED's that came in the box o parts with the bike and they are installed.  when fully latching the trun signal either left or right, the correct lights come on but dont blink......only when in transit does it work correctly.  The break light and headlight work fine and are stock.  I tried all variations with the stock signal indicator light pulled and no go.

Success!!!!!!  after looking into the buzzer wiring and tracing out what is supposed to go where.  The PO had plugged the brown/light blue wire that was supposed to go to the buzzer from the switch directly into the black wire (jumping it I guess).  Dont know why this would have caused this but I am not complaining!!!!  I unplugged this and it works perfect now.  I will cap off the brown/light blue wire and leav it.

thanks for all the help!!!
