77 CB750K Stock Exhaust. How much is it worth?
« on: May 27, 2020, 04:06:24 PM »
So ... these are just sitting in my garage taking up space. I'd like to put them up for sale but I'm not too sure what to ask for them. What do you guys think?

Seems like restoring the 77/78k's is just barely starting to become a thing.  Might be worthwhile to hang on to them for a few more years...or is the whole cb750 thing on it's way out altogether?  Hard to tell.  Wish I could, I have 2 similar sets...one set almost perfect, nicer than yours, another set rougher than yours.  I would have sold mine already but they are too much hassle to ship.
If it works good, it looks good...

I spent years looking for those pipes when restoring a K8 I bought new, and a K7 my son rode. My best buddy restored his K8 at the same time. He got frustrated and bought a repro set that cost him $1500 plus shipping! I bought mine one or two at a time and typically paid $200 for a really good (or even a few NOS) singles.

Problem is, most of yours look blown through..... that usually means the baffles are loose inside too? If you were local, and one is really good, maybe $250 for the set (Max). Also, the two brackets that locate the pipes to the rear foot pegs are unique to K7/8. Even with the repro pipe set, they are a “must have” and getting very tough to find. $75-100 for the pair.

If they have rusted out areas, they aren't worth the cost of shipping. I sold one good outside K7 pipe to a member for $40, then insisted he take the other good outside pipe with it, after he drove up here to pick them up. (For some reason, both inside pipes were rusted out, but the outside pipes were good?)
Are those brackets really worth $75-100?? Hmm, where did I put them??
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Even though they got a few rust holes, the baffles themselves are still good. It was kind of annoying how quiet they were Lol.

But yeah, ideally I'd like someone to come across this thread and shoot me a message about snagging them. Definitely would be down to meet halfway or something.
