Lacing front wheel off center for cb750
« on: May 29, 2020, 01:38:05 PM »
Hey guys,

After seeing 1 post from 6 years ago, and not seeing anyone that had ever done it, I thought I would start a new thread.

Has anyone laced their front wheel 3-4mm off center (away from brake hub side) to make the front wheel truly centered to the bike?  I could not actually find a post where someone centered the wheel.  I saw in Marks book where he points this out, and I have a 71 CB750 that is complete to confirm, it is indeed off center.  I just sent my front wheel to Buchanan's to have it laced to a center hub, and asked them to off center it 3mm away from the brake side.  Will this work out as planned, or am I crazy?  Or both?  I would have gave the lacing a shot on my own, but I am having a rear DID rim laced to a front hub, so the spoke holes will need redrilled to change their angle.

Thanks for any feedback.

Daniel

I'll be relacing my 750 wheels soon, I wasn't aware there was an offset on any of the SOHC fours front or rear.

Following with interest.

Read Mark's book for an excellent explanation of the evolution of the CB750 front wheel offset
