thanks and now help me identify
« on: February 13, 2007, 12:18:36 PM »
Thanks for the help with the retaining nut - WD40 worked a treat.

Can you help me identify more detail about my bike.

Frame CB550K - 2020398
Engine CB550E - 2021037
Says 1979 CB550four K3. Is this correct?, and can I check if it is UK or US. There seems to be subtle but important differences.
Colour is candy garnet brown.
I wish to order from cmsnl.com but they are confusing in that they offer K77 - US or K78 US. I think I am K78 but am not sure about US???????????
Please help me.
My chrome is on the way to R&S in the UK and the frame is being repainted locally. And then.......................REASSEMBLY.

According to the Honda Motorcycle Identification Guide published by American Honda motor company, your serial numbers would be for a 1977  Cb550K  Which would be a K3, of course.

But, I confess, I don't know exactly what was foisted upon the UK contingent.

       Hey Gary,

From what I know the serial number you posted should be a 77' CB550K. The serial numbers for the 77' models begin with CB550-2000007. The 78' model start with CB550-2100001. I don't know that they made a 79'. Now that's info on the US models. That's the best I can do for now.

TT, you beat me to it. But, I almost had you. ;D

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
