Dead Bike; newbie needs help
« on: June 08, 2020, 06:40:54 PM »
Hi All

Bike was running.  1976 CB 750.  Practiced cleaning carbs.  Put the bike back together and nothing happened when I turned the key.
Charged the battery and still nothing, no lights.

I'm assuming I messed up wiring at some point.  Guessing I separated a connection/created a short?  Maybe when working with throttle cables at the handle bars...?

Unsure of how to proceed.  I'm far from an electrician.   Would appreciate any help.
Thanks.

Check the 15 amp main fuse.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

^^^^ Yup, start at the battery and work your way out.  Check your frame ground too.

Kill switch?
Kill switch doesn't control the lights. ;)

Had a 750 die once with 0 power. It had the key switch relocated to the top triple tree bar mount, a popular thing at one time. The wiring loom from the ignition switch pulled out enough from the main harness to lose all power. Check there also while your troubleshooting if your main fuse is still good.
