CB750A Pod Filter Size?
« on: October 26, 2006, 04:00:52 PM »
Hi-

We are currently working with a gentleman who is wrenching on a '76 CB750A, and he is wanting to stick a set of Pod Filters on her.
Does anyone know what diameter of Pod Filter we would need to use on this application?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought a set from chi town choppers. they were standard carbs for a 73 cb750k and they apear to be 39 mm. The brand is pro sport and the part number is 433-3000. not sure on the diameter for the later pump carbs.

Autos used a smaller bore size (26mm vs 28mm I believe) carbs than the 77&78 Ks and Fs.  Don't know what size pods to get. . . .Another thing to consider is that the autos used these smaller bore carbs for a reason; improved low RPM performance (at the expense of higher RPM performance). They are probably geared accordingly.   If the PODs do indeed boost performance it will be in high airflow /  higher RPM ranges and they will in all likelyhood hurt performance @ lower  RPMs.  My guess is that the sluggish auto will be more sluggish and less tractable on the street with the pods installed even if and when the carbs are jetted correctly.  This might be a can o worms that you might want to avoid!
