New race track.
« on: June 09, 2020, 04:17:21 AM »
This may be of interest to some of the roundy roundy guys.
Last night, I heard from one of the owners of a new race track being built.
The track is in the south of Ariziona near a town called Yucca just off I40 and south of Kingman.
I don't have a lot of details but the asphalt has just been laid and looks to be completed.
Here's a video taken from a light aircraft landing on the main straight and doing a lap.

Man, new asphalt alright, it seems like that's the easy part! There's a whole lot of work to do. I hope it continues and they get it open to racing.

There is a new track in upstate NY that is progressing but are only operating track days so far. It looks great with lots of elevation changes. Run-offs are completed. I believe they are hindered with permit issues which is often a problem. I hope they get up and running too.

It's safe to say there are more tracks facing pressure to close than there are new tracks opening.

Sam, who told you about this, Gary P? It's right in his back yard. There is a Chrysler proving grounds near Yucca, but I've never seen anything about a race track there, and I drive past there anytime I go to California.

Scott, it's only been laid in the last week or so, that's what I was told anyway.
There are 4 people involved in it, 2 from England and 2 American plus a guy named Garth that dropped out.
One of the English guys live close to me, about 6 miles away. His name is Paul Mercer, the other English guy is Stuart Anderson and he lives in Leicester.
The two Americans are Randy from Kingsman and a guy called John Anderson, not sure where he is from but I think in the area.
