So there I was, cruising home from my daily commute from work, at a leasurly pace of 45MPH.  I suddenly see my oil light flickering on and off. At first I thought it was the light coming through the trees overhead and reflecting off the red light marker.  I haven't had any oil related problems in the past.  I look around While I'm stopped at a red. to see if I'm smoking or leaking.  Nothing.  The engine sounded good, so I continued.  Half a mile later I start to bog and miss.  I immediately hit the clutch and Blam!  Catastrophic Engine Failure. It was a bad metallic clunk and a ping.  I managed to keep it level and coast to a drive, Where I checked the oil and the case to see if anything bust through.  Oil was gone and the engine seized up.
All this on a bike night no less.  I was pissed to say the least. >:(

Which brings me to my next point.  Any one know of any good engine builders?  I was thinking of either buying another running donor bike and yank the motor.  Or buy a rebuilt/performance motor.  I have all winter so I'll be able to save some coin to do either.
Any suggestions?

I'm right there with you.  It sucks.  Got my engine at a shop here in Houston -- the guy does good work, but it's a bit of a haul for you.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas.  I'm not throwing in the towel just yet.  I'll keep you posted on the new developments and since you guys like pictures, I'll be sure to include some nice money shots! ;D

Does any one know of any sites that offer engine building services like M3 Racing.  I'm looking for something like a crate engine for the CB but M3 might be out of my league $$$.   I remember stumbling onto a site in MN that dealt with CB750 performance engine rebuilds when I was looking for parts.  Any info Would be great.
Peace.

If money and distance are no matter, there's Charlie's in SanFrancisco.

Edited update; Charley's has been sold and is now O'Hanlon. Can't find a website but the phone is (415) 777-3845

I've heard mixed reviews of Wayne & Son, but nothing to substantiate the negative reviews.  Anyone know more about their work?

Hey rhonda, hows the build going? I have a 76 f bottom end laying around here in Kansas if your still needing something. I could get enouph parts to build you a hotrod if your interested.
good luck,
Jesse
