CB550 shorting itself out?
« on: June 12, 2020, 01:19:11 PM »
Issue: won’t start
Solution: new ignition coils, plugs and wires, spark plugs, field coil, condensers, ricks electric regulator rectifier, new starter solenoid

Problem: upon start up my brand new shorai lithium ion battery exploded itself, how ? Everything was new..

Would you mind to inform us: a) what bike? b)why you spend so much money for thingies at the same time?
Was there a proper diagnosis?

And now it sounds like you're burning out the charging system again.  Somehow you're not blowing fuses though?  Did you bypass the fuses?  If yes, undo that and find the short.

Haven’t bypassed anything, and correct I’m not blowing any fuses. At first my ignition coil bursted and went into smoke replaced that with a new one and now the battery blew up and smoked out so I’m confused on what’s the problem could it be the ricks regulator rectifier?

Which Rick's unit did you use? The original one allowed the voltage to get too high for most Lithium batteries, so they started making one specifically for Lithium. Even the original limited the charging voltage to 15V, which shouldn't make your battery blow up, much less make a coil burst!?? Got a voltmeter?

10-100 is the standard model, 14-100 is for Lithium. What sort of "creative" wiring changes have you done??

The only “creative” wiring I did was installing a new skinny throttle cable bracket and re wired the kill switch correctly with solder and heat shrink and left the push start button. Besides that nothing else
