New Cam Chain Tensioner from Cycle X
« on: June 18, 2020, 11:18:27 AM »
I've been hearing from Kenny about this one for a while, needing a reliable system for my race bike. The pictures on the site are mock up but will be made with the best materials available. I know I am pumped for this to come together, especially as I work on my other race bike, which will be making stupid power on 928cc.

Interesting, pivoting guides rather than rollers.

Yes it seems very logical for a fully bolt in solution.

The PA46 Nylatron material is a big help.

That’s tough stuff👍

That picture does not reflect the final product as Kenny's disclaimer states.
That picture shows one of the many steps in the development process.
The tensioner and center guides are full floating on the finished product.
And the final product is PA46 which has that reddish brown color.

Hi Folks,
Just bumping up the thread just in case someone knows something about when they are for sale ?
I emailed Cycle x a couple of times to find out but NO response.
Ive been stalling off on assembling the race motor for a month or so as Im keen to give it a try but I'm getting edgy and testy these days.
Could phone I suppose but with time difference easier to email.
ciao Johno

FYI, you gotta call.  I spoke w/ Kenny today actually and he said he's as busy as ever.  only way I've ever gotten thru to them was calling.

The upper metal wheel does not wear quickly?
I saw chew marks on theeth after not long so stock came back in.
It should have been of harder material.
I used a press when mounting the tensioner correctly as described in instruction.

On Red I used these, quite happy with it.

Shredded my set after 2 race seasons. Teeth on the sprocket almost completely gone. Never again.

I think it should be telling that no motor manufacturer uses toothed or wheeled tensioners. They all use plastic slide ones like the new cycle x one. For instance the Yamaha R1 tensioner is just a big flat piece of plastic of some sort and that motor pulls 13k rpms.
