1975 CB750F Headlight stay and front turn signals
« on: June 20, 2020, 06:07:39 PM »
I had a front turn signal die on me recently (chewed wire) and the journey to replacing them has become a little more complex than I anticipated.

The hollow bolt connecting the turn signal to my headlight stay is permanently attached to the stay. However, all of the turn signals I'm finding online have the bolt attached to the turn signal. Additionally, none of the parts diagrams for my bike (or photos of the stay) show any bolts connected to the stay.

Are bolts generally removable from a turn signal? If so, then problem solved I guess...
Did a previous owner decide to cement in these bolts? Can I remove them?

I suppose I could always fix the wiring, then at least I'd get the headlight wire colors to match the wiring diagram :p But then I'd miss out on upgrading to LED lights :/

Stay part number: 61313-392-600

Totally non stock and as Bryan mentioned somebody used JB Weld to 'glue' that bolt insert in there where your wires will run. You may be able to drill around that stud enough to pull or get it out then clean up the inside with a dremel or rounded file . If all the wires from a stock signal will fit through the little hole hacking it off flush with a hacksaw may work even if you have to enlarge the hole with a drill. Couple options to save the hard to find good bracket.

Thanks both for the replies! I'll take a stab at removing the epoxy, and look around for some Honda indicators.

The ones you need for that are the big frying pan type.

Look like this one on ebay 113414427499.
Fronts have two wires and ground via casing rears one wire and groundvia casing because fronts have running lights

I can look thru my collection(s) of turn signals to see if I have a complete set of the 1973-76 style turn signals, but they will not be LED type.

Be sure that what you get has the extra wire for the front signals. It is a running light in addition to a turn signal. After market pieces are available for cheap.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
