Yeah, that's what I thought at first, too.
So- to anyone who cares, the tank has been sent back.  They will refund my money, but not shipping.  That's about $120 both ways, but I'll take anything I can get.  They don't even hint that the work is sub-contracted out.  Now that i realize that, I can't imagine WHAT they do at Unity Equipe.  Their alleged tank maker didn't even glance at the frame I gave them- another $200 I'm out.  Am I steamed?  Yeah, I guess... much of it is my fault for being sort of pretentious and impatient.  The stock tank works fine.  I just love aluminium tanks.  I did rrealize something I thught was interesting; Jackie asked why I didn't want a tank that long.  I realized that in riding the mountain roads, I rarely get over 45 or 50 mph because of all the tight turns and switchbacks.  I don't stretch out because wind resistance is not a problem. I sit far forward to weight the front wheel- better traction.
Anyhoo- biffta is invited to my next BBQ.  He's a mensch.  I was going to send him a more formal thank you when I get the money credited.
OK- so I never made BBQ before.  Dave- dinner at the Moose Cafe is on me.  How's that?  They have the BEST biscuits and home-made apple butter.  YAH !
