18" rear wheel to a 16" rear wheel.
« on: June 26, 2020, 11:34:01 PM »
I've been bringing a 74 750 Four back to life. it cam with a 18" Lester mag on the rear, after a sprocket bearing wiped out  basically all the wheel bearing's I decided to get a replacement wheel instead of waiting on someone to fix the one I had. When the wheel I ordered arrived, it turned out to be a 16" Lester. I was concerned at first, but only until I took the first ride with the 16. It completely transformed my bike, it went from sluggish handling with a poor turning radius,  to nimble and light on its feet. Acceleration noticably picked up as well. And it really doesn't rev too much higher at 55+, nothing to be concerned with anyways, oh and it doesn't feel like it's gonna tip over everytime I put it on the kickstand. To everyone with a CB-750 Four that has the stock 18" on the rear, I can't recommend converting to a 16" more. The difference is seriously night and day in favor of the 16".

And it doesn't look all that bad either, feel like I should shave my rear fender a bit to tighten up the wheel well, but it's not so bad I feel I have to.

Also, this is my first project. I would kinda like to hear from more experienced people about things I may be missing or over looking, this is a before pick from the day I bought it a month and a half ago...

Didn't the 77-78K 750 come stock with a 17" wheel ? Your 16" with a tall looking tire may be getting you back to stock height.
